On this site you will find many interesting facts and information about Queenstown and the surrounding area.

Queenstown is a place of stunning natural beauty, all year round. The Southern Lakes District combines natures most powerful elements into a splendour of breathtaking views that leaves the visitors speechless. This area has New Zealand’s only true continental climate, therefore extremes of temperatures and landscapes are common here. Summers can be hot and dry, autumn a blaze of colours, enough to inspire artists. Winters can be blanketed in snow and crystal clear sky’s. In spring the alpine air isn't just clean and fresh, you can actually taste the difference. Whatever the season, the light is crisp and clear, night skies are often star studded and the towering mountains almost seem within arms reach.

Queenstown provides a full range of activities in an unparalleled alpine setting. It’s the place to find almost every kind of adventure. You can take to the sky’s on a scenic flight, paragliding, hang gliding, skydiving or for the brave try an aerobatic flight, where you get to experience true G-Forces.
Our town is the home of the modern bungy jumping as we know it today. Over the last decade it has evolved into a number of even more exciting variations, you can try them all here in Queenstown today.
Most activities are centred around the lake and rivers nearby, especially the Shotover, Dart, and Kawarau Rivers. White water rafting, river surfing, canoeing, kayaking, and jet boating are all great fun ways to get wet. There is excellent fishing in the lakes, rivers and streams nearby.
In winter, Queenstown is a major centre for snow sports, with people from many parts of the world travelling here to ski, snowboard or luge at the four nearby ski fields, Cardrona, Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Treble Cone.

If you wish to move at a more leisurely pace, Queenstown also offers the best of rest and relaxation. Take a stroll through historic Arrowtown, which features excellent restaurants and bars, pan for gold, play a round of golf, enjoy an educational historic tour and view an arts trail. Don't forget to take a cruise on the historic TSS Earnslaw (Twin Screw Steam Ship of 1911) on Lake Wakatipu, the largest lake in the South Island of New Zealand. There are also some exceptional language schools in Queenstown.

Only 45 minutes drive away lies the farming town of Glenorchy. The ideal getaway for many walking tracks such as the great Routeburn Track and The Greenstone Track. For the less ambitious explorer there are numerous shorter walks, which give the opportunity to explore the scenic landscapes of the Southern Alps Region.
