Queenstown offers many activities, restaurants and shops. After some full on time in our town, you might enjoy a hike in the diverse nature in our area. There are beautiful views to admire, native birds and plants to observe, old goldmines and goldtowns to explore. All of this not far from where you have accommodation during your stay in the Southern Alps region. Among the huge range of walking tracks situated in the Queenstown are, there is certainly one to suit your interest, fitness level and ability. If you are looking for a full day hike, you might enjoy an uphill hike to Ben Lomond summit, or decide for an easier walking option as is the Kea Basin Track. Moonlight track offers some wonderful sightseeing options of old goldmining sites, or visit one of the picturesque lakes of the Wakatipu- Queenstown area, like Lake Rere, Lake Dispute or also the small Lake Moke.
Most of these tracks are well formed. But there are also rocky or after heavy rain muddy patches, therefore good footwear is essential.
Some of these tracks might cross private farmland. It is recommended to keep to the formed track to avoid stock disturbance. Be sure to obey the country code as for example leaving gates as you found them. Also please don't forget: take only photos and leave only footprints. |
