Getting here, flying into Queenstown Airport, or taking the slow way and drive

Queenstown is located in the south west of the South Island of New Zealand.
Being surrounded by the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean leaves the international traveller no other option than to fly into Queenstown. Getting to Queenstown is easy because The Lakes District is well served with majour airlines. International flights into Queenstown are flown by Qantas Airways and Air New Zealand. These flights connect Queenstown with Sydney. During winter season Air New Zealand has additional flights from Brisbane and Malbourne.
If you are already in New Zealand, domestic flights offered by Air New Zealand or Qantas New Zealand are an option to get to Queenstown fast.
The airport is located in Frankton about 8 km from Queenstown. A shuttle service offered by Super Shuttle picks up and drops off for 8NZD per person. Taxis cost about 18 NZD.
For travellers with more time on hand there is always the possiblity of driving to Queenstown. Make the most of it and enjoy the diverse beauty of the landscape as you approach the Southern Lakes District with the Alps and Queenstown.
