Would you like to enjoy getting to places without driving yourself?
Queenstown has several bus companies that work throughout the entire city and into surrounding areas as well as the public transportation system, including busses and trains. There is to differenciate between the private bus companies (coach busses for distant travel) and the public transportation system busses. These are usually yellow. The tickets can be bought at any station or on the bus itself. The prices are the same throughout the whole city.
Next to the bus system, Queenstown also has train transportation. Here as well, prices are the same all over town.
Would you like to travel to the Milford Sound, Chirstchurch, Te Anau, Dunedin or Invercargill? Or are you more tempted by the West Coast glaciers? Several daily services to and from Queenstown can be booked in the InterCity office, in the visitors centre on the corner of Shotover and Camp Sts. Take advantage of one of the numerous possiblities for bus tours up the coast as far as Nelson, or down to the Catlins.
Trampers transport gets you to and from the Routeburn, Greenstone, Caples and Rees-Dart Tracks, all via Glenorchy. Bus services between Queenstown and Milford Sound can also be used for track transport. |
